But what triggered this? Is it increased plane travel?

Uncertain grounds
these motherfukking idiots going out when they are possibly sick and being lax with safety are literally going to destroy the country

trump being an idiot is a big factor, probably the biggest, but people have to take accountability as well. this is ridiculous.

ct is getting worse after being fine for quite a while. if it continues on this trend im going to be out of a job and the place may close for good. if it doesnt and we reopen then we are going to have to deal with hundreds of angry customers looking for refunds and shyt. its going to be a fukking disaster

What is it about Africa that makes them so successful? I've never heard about any African nation doing any big lockdowns like New Zealand.
They had lockdowns breh but remember Ebola was a few years ago, so people know the importance of keeping in place and proper hygiene.

The reason why Asian pacific countries are better prepared is because SARS came through in the early 2000’s, they know better than to do the dumb shyt many Americans are doing

Imo, I think they're just battle tested with regards to dealing with the Malaria, cholera, and tuberculosis endemics relatively recently. Plus a lot of those countries just straight up banned flights from China and europe early on.

In Italy, starting from today bars and restaurants close at 18h.
Since few days ago, we already had the curfew at nighttime...
This is national.

Some cities and regions have additional restrictions, like Campania closed the schools and Bari closed certain streets...

Lombardia on the other hand is waiting for national restrictions, just like last time. This is the center of Italian economy, and businesses have too much power over the regional government...

Speriamo bene...I see there were protests in Milan also after Napoli the other day

The major genetic risk factor for severe COVID-19 is inherited from Neanderthals
A recent genetic association study1 identified a gene cluster on chromosome 3 as a risk locus for respiratory failure after infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). A separate study (COVID-19 Host Genetics Initiative)2 comprising 3,199 hospitalized patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and control individuals showed that this cluster is the major genetic risk factor for severe symptoms after SARS-CoV-2 infection and hospitalization. Here we show that the risk is conferred by a genomic segment of around 50 kilobases in size that is inherited from Neanderthals and is carried by around 50% of people in south Asia and around 16% of people in Europe."
