Michael Angel Ruiz had a history of drug addiction. On July 28, for reasons unknown, he climbed onto the roof of his apartment. Witnesses called the police to protect his safety. This turned out to have been a fatal decision.

First they tased him several times on the roof. He finally complied and hopped down. Cops immediately swarmed him and put him in a choke-hold.

Witness Gary Carthen said that Ruiz was "getting choked out and tased at the same time." He remained in a choke-hold for at least three minutes.

The most disturbing moments were to come. Michael Ruiz, now fully restrained, was dragged down the concrete stairs on his face. As deputies held his arms behind his back, they allowed his head to dangle and thump against every stair. At this point Ruiz may have already lost consciousness, and was making no attempt to lift his head. Video shows him lifelessly suffering head trauma on the descent down the stair case.

"I just felt sick to my stomach," said Richard Erickson, a retired police detective. "I'd never seen anything like this before, even when I was with the police department."

i would tag @Brown_Pride as well.

PHX PD is extremely corrupt. i hear scottsdale PD are very dangerous too.

that dude lives in a place that is pretty dangerous. he must have completely lost contact with his dad to be slumming it in that part of PHX after being middle class in LA.

the cops are clearly in the wrong for letting his head slam into the steps all the way down, the use of the taser is dubious too, the use of the choke hold is more debatable since they can claim they felt his muscles tightening in an attempt to resist so the use of some form of restraint would be seen as warranted. there really is no way to explain letting his dead get hit like that, though.

i expect them to just get paid leave until this blows over and then nothing will happen.

What essentially happened here is that the police was called due to a man being in a position to harm or kill himself, so they went ahead and killed him themselves. :wtf: It doesn't even make sense.

These cats are like Zimmerman man, not talking about the race issue, but I'm talking about that hunger for authority and itchy trigger finger. No wonder Zimmerman wanted to become a cop. You know how many Zimmermans get to be police? A whole lot of them. They look for the slightest legal crevice to use a weapon they usually are not even properly trained to do so, both in terms of the use of the weapon and also the ability to calm their emotions in a stressful situation. It's a blank check to do whatever. They don't give a shyt. The entire force including their superiors will support them, maybe give them a paid vacation. The police unions are blight on the concept of unions. The DA wont even waste their time considering the thought of prosecuting these people for what essentially amounts to aggravated assault and abuse.

Now we're giving these battalion of Zimmermans military grade weapons and vehicles.

This former Marine Colonel sums it up here in his plea to stop his local PD from getting military grade equipment:

You guys can clown me all you want, but I honestly fear the police more any criminal. I know if a criminal comes into my house and manages to kill me and my family, there is a very high chance that he will at least be charged with murder. But the police? It will all get swept up underneath the rug. Maybe someone will get fired for it.

If I happen to legally kill a criminal, there is a small chance that I will face retribution, but if you happened to take down a law enforcement officer, even if you were 100% morally, ethically, and legally in the right to do that, chances are you will not live long.

Matter of fact, there was a great thread on reddit today about a cop who snitched on his Captain for violating the constitution and lying on an official report, and dude got fired while his Captain is still there. He says multiple times he's afraid to reveal his identity because he fears for his life.

This Florida Highway Patrol trooper had to file a federal suit because she happened to pull over an off duty cope going over 120 mph in his squad car (he didn't want to be late for his 2nd job), and she had to draw her gun on him because she thought someone had stolen the vehicle (the speeding officer did not have his lights on, would not initially pull over, following commands, etc..)

Here is the article:

The Florida Highway Patrol trooper at the center of firestorm after she pulled over a speeding cop at gunpoint said fellow law enforcement officers have created a "life-threatening" situation that caused her to be in such fear for her safety she has become a "hermit."

Trooper Donna "Jane" Watts' 69-page lawsuit, filed in federal court Friday, seeks more than $1 million in damages. She is suing more than 100 police officers and agencies, and the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. The suit alleges 88 law enforcement officers from 25 jurisdictions illegally accessed her personal information more than 200 times, violating her privacy.

Watts made national news in October 2011 when she pulled over off-duty Miami Police Officer Fausto Lopez for speeding in his marked patrol car on Florida's Turnpike in Broward County.

She followed him for seven minutes and later wrote in a report that he was darting in and out of lanes at speeds exceeding 120 mph. She approached his cruiser with her gun drawn, yelling, and then handcuffed him.

Lopez, who regularly averaged more than 100 mph on his drive between Miami and his home in Coconut Creek, was fired in September.

But in the months after the incident, officers looked up information such as her home address, picture, Social Security number, date of birth, and detailed vehicle description in a database available to police officers, according to her lawsuit.

Yeah but isn't this the rationale behind many people who carry a guns. For the what if, and hypothetical situations.

And I agree the modernization of the domestic police forces. It's kind of scary. Maybe they're preparing for future disputes between the rich and poor. :manny:

Yeah bro, it's kind of crazy. I remember the similar thread, I think you created about a year ago, where a former unarmed soldier, was ruthlessly gunned in his home, by a militia of police officers who fired indiscriminately into his home. It's like being guilty til proven innocent, only with the risk of being executed because someone was trigger.

I'm still on the fence on this officer was justified...

Not saying I disagree with how he handled the situation, but he did approach the suspect ready for a confrontation.

I need someone to clip from 7 seconds to 9 seconds for situations like this.
I know some phoenix PD, my cousin used to be a copy in that area and some of these fukers are downright evil sons of biotches. Racist, over compensating fuks. I hope they sue the shyt out of them.

That phoenix police department choke hold aint no joke either they stay killing people with that shyt too.

ive seen this kind of thing happen a lot. my takeaway is that if you ever have a friend or family member acting strange, you probably should not call the cops. they dont love that person like you do, so when that person is acting like a fool or looking dangerous, the officers are not going to let themselves get hurt while trying to coddle some lunatic they have never met before, they are going to use some serious force that could end up killing that person. i think you have to be prepared to tackle and restrain your own family if they are acting crazy or high on something, calling the cops is too risky. cops are just there to make arrests or kill dangerous people. if they can do anything else, consider that to be a lucky day.
