Been going thru my DVDs (yes, I am on BR, but kept my DVDs) and decided to watch some old comedy flicks. I didn't even finish watching because I wasn't feeling them anymore.

Will Ferrell flicks (Anchorman, Talladega Nights, Blades of Glory) have made the list.

I'ma pop in A few others this week. Mainly Ben Stiller stuff.

I think you could say that eventually all comedies lose their charm over time. You've heard the joke or seen a scene, it made you laugh and the next time you watch it, it's still funny but it doesn't bring the same reaction as when you had watched it for the first time. Although some scenes are so memorable that you keep them in good memory, i.e. the scenes in Dumb and Dumber (part 1).

True.

There are a lot out there that have the opposite charm as the ones we can still watch from time to time and get a chuckle. A large amount of comedy flicks are one night stands.

I don't think its the movies that lose their charm as much as its your sense of humor that evolves. A movie like Ace Ventura is just as funny to me now as it was when I was 8, but that's a rarity because there are other flicks I loved as a kid that now I find dumb as hell and thats just because I'm an adult. Your taste change, your outlook changes

Waynes World was on the other day, hadn't seen it in forever, was still kind of funny, more nostalgic than anything. cant believe it came out 25 years ago.

Movies like Ace Ventura isn't funny anymore aside from a couple memorable scenes , its just stupid af, but dumb and dumber still holds up. My favorites from the 80s still hold up, Coming to America, Vacation, Naked Gun, Caddyshack etc ...Friday is always funny...

Movies like American Pie, nah, not funny.
