That round 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :gladbron:

What happened to Jirov?
Q: Do you still follow boxing?

V.J: “I do sometimes, but not that much. I have my own gym, where I train people and I enjoy it. I enjoy passing on the knowledge I have. I like to help people make something of their lives, to achieve their goal. Whether they become the best fighters in the word or not, I really don’t care. I just want to help people become better and help themselves.”

Q: The fight you had with James Toney, which you lost on points, is a truly great fight. First of all, do you think the decision he got over you was fair?

V.J: “No, I won the fight. I outworked him in every round apart from the last round. He [Toney] was not fighting in his usual division; he was bigger. In his next fight, he went up to heavyweight. I think he was on some kind of medication. Any time [before] when I hit [an opponent] with my punches, they went down. Now, he was taking everything. It’s impossible.

“[Toney] was a heavyweight in his very next fight. I would have loved a rematch, but for whatever reasons it never happened. I think maybe I never had the right people around me. They [my opponents] made a name by having me on their list [of wins]. But this is life!”

Second greatest CW fight only surpassed by Holyfield-Qawi 1
Word to both fights! Jirov was a dope fighter, I loved watching that cat. I miss great CW fighters/bouts. On the low I always love LHW-CW fights because those are the "average man" weights unlike HW where it takes a special person to fight there. Holyfield was the epitome of CW IMO. This was a great find @mr. smoke weed

If there's another underrated thing he did in boxing is that he virtually ended Joe mesi's career when he went up to get that heavyweight money

Jirov was a great body puncher in his prime

Yeah, but it came from a rabbit punch though. I can't give no props for that. Dude was losing most of the fight until that shyt happened. I recall Mesi saying he don't even remember shyt that happened after he got hit with that punch. Great bodypuncher Jirov was though.

Mesi got hated on alot back then, but he wasn't that bad. He used to catch that GGG type shade. nikkas hated him for getting a 1st rd KO over TOS on the night of the Heavyweights card and were more impressed by cats that went the distance. :dwillhuh:

Mesi was better than Seth Mitchell, but that ain't saying too much. :manny:

Mesi got a different type of hate..he wasn't that good lol..at least to me he wasn't..i was a little salty seeing TOS getting ko'ed like that (:mjlol: at Mesi having an easier time with him than Wlad and Byrd)..than he had that close call with Monte Barrett...i still Monte think won that shyt..but i agree he was better than Seth Mitchell :manny:..:pachaha:

To be honest he looks like he's just slapping but you can visibly see multiple times in this fight where JT is FEELING those against the ropes. I was also stunned that Jirov was able to take all those clean ass counters and not get damaged until the 10th-12th.

Hell of a fight.
