I guess I'm technically a non traditional student. I'm going to be starting here in Las Vegas at age 25.

I've been around the block enough but I know that school is a scheme/scam/game/grind.

I'm going to be in the game for awhile because i will eventually be as {expletive deleted}

Please provide some advice that you wish you would have had when you first started.

-Do your work in advance- The beginning of every semester starts with hardly any work and ends with an avalanche. Try to do as much as you can ahead of time. Read the material before discussing it, because especially in 200+ student classes, you may only get a chance to ask one question.

-Withdraw early- If you know a class isnt for you, withdraw. If a professor seems like a dikkhead, withdraw. Remember that YOU are paying for it, and dont have to pay for anything you dont want.

-Be social- The most important people in the future will be the ones you meet now. get to know everybody, create connections with like-minded people and stay in touch. Today's students are tomorrow's business leaders.

-Think how you like, but only say what they want to hear- Professors are egomaniacal tyrants. Dont challenge them. I'm not saying stroke their ego, i'm saying how they feel about you will hold more weight than the quality of your work. Give them the answers they want to hear, even if you know it to be wrong.

It's kind of like dude just said, think what you like, but know when to keep it to yourself. Unfortunately to be not white and even semi conscious is to be borderline radical to many whites. You'll find the intelligent people you can open up with, but looking back I think I used to take too much pleasure is disturbing the comfort of naive white kids. It's an easy trap to fall into, but it's better to start practicing from then how to keep shyt on the surface level when necessary to just make moving thru a little easier.

There's always exceptions tho :shaq:
