I just saw dude dunk it a couple times. and that pull is westbrook status. on ball steals is Payton status. i noticed a lack of true crossovers but dude never picked up his dribble(sign of a good pg/ball handler)

Defense was on point. pos rep for this video

Ya sometimes I don't think he and the other greats from his time wouldnt have as difficult a time adjusting to the the modern game as most think. I notice when watchin all the old games that u dont see West / Oscar / Monroe / Frazier or any player from the 60's / 70's do a modern looking crossover cause the rules were enforced much tighter - which mean its not cause they lacked ability, they just werent allowed. It also means u would never see AI or Kobe go back in time and try and cross these guys up w/o turning it over either. Theyd have to tighten up the dribble to that vintage palms-down style - prob would need to dribble just like these guys

Why 60s-70s NBA players don't ever crossover or have "handles" (palming calls) - YouTube

When I first started payin attention to West in my oldschool bball films I anticipated he would get steals cuz I used to read about and listen from other players how he had quick hands and underrated defense but when I started watchin games I was like :ooh: @ his chase-downs n Wade-level shot blocking... I only got a few "complete" games but West blocks at least one shot n all of em. also blocks shots in incomplete game halves and 4th quarters. Makes me wonder if he was a 2stl+ 1blk+ career player

thanks for all these threads. i love watching these vids

Coli fans appreciate the footage so Coli fans will keep gettin it. I tried posting a few clips in a Laker forum once and Laker fans laughed at me for suggesting the likes of West or Baylor could actually be any good compared to modern players. :manny: their loss i guess

just curious where and how do you have footage from 1960 ? thats pretty cool just wondering how you have it

I got nose for finding it. Used to hunt high and low for Wilt Chamberlain stuff on torrents and youtube before youtube police shut all the biggest oldschool sources down. Just prior to them crackin down on it I had decided to take everything I could from those decades not just Wilt stuff in order to better understand the game and players back then. Glad I did lol, Games can still usually be found on torrents and scattered around youtube but right now it doesn't look like anyone has all the old Winek NBA documentary films that I got from that era

:rudy:

I've seen the corpses of Derrick Fisher and Steve Nash get shots off over many reputed shot blockers in this league, I watched Love steal a rebounding title from D12 - and Bogut (when he was fat) get a shot blocking title. There are legitimate freaks in this league yah - and probably more of them per-team than there were in West's time, but let's not act like freaks didn't also exist in West's time - and I've never seen a older or lesser-athletes suddenly become obsolete cause some dude has 4" more vertical. In West's time he had to attack basket protectors like Russell? Wilt? Thurmond? etc - he played with and against all of em with success. Plus, he was no avg joe himself with that 6-9 wingspan and ultra quick hands
