The indiegogo link: http://igg.me/at/hailegerima

Official website for the movie: http://yetutlijmovie.com/

Be sure to shoutout thecoli.com & Yonathan(especially that :mjpls:) if you leave any comments so that way I can tell who's who. BTW, that link is exclusive since we don't really launch until June 1st.

As some of you may know, I work at a Black owned bookstore called "Sankofa" owned by film maker Haile Gerima. It takes it's namesake from Haile's most well known movie. Next month we will be starting a huge fundraiser to help bring Haile Gerima's next film project to the big screen. To make a long story short, funding was secured from the EU, some fukk shyt happened, and the funding was taken back. So rather than sit on hands its all hands on deck and we're getting the whole community involved. :bmhandrub:

With that said, if anyone is interested in donating anything to the cause it'd be greatly appreciated. The official indiegogo kicks off on June 1st and is tax deducible, but for now I'm simply taking dollar donations with any purchase here at Sankofa. So again, if anyone is interested please let me know. As Haile tells it, we've got to be willing to tell our own story, and this is part of that same process. We're also selling rare books and art pieces to fund Haile's other movie project which is a continuation of the movie Sankofa, this time taking place in a maroon colony. Now you know damn well 'they' won't be funding ANY movies about a maroon colony. :cacjpls1:

Anything is plenty yall, I donate to this place when I'm able to. So all I can ask is that yall do the same. If yall want more info e-mailed to yall just drop yall full name and e-mail in my PM box and I'll have you added onto the contacts list. Get on this Ujamma shyt with me brehs! :mjno:

I'll post the gofundme as soon as it comes up and many thanks to everyone here that contributes. I'm really hellbent on showing these cacs that we can make shyt happen if we all put our efforts towards it. I just want this movie to come out in spite of some fukkass EU money.

There's a special curator for that and he got the full list of items its a shytload of em, I'm curator for the regular store books so I know the inventory on the floor. Of the books I can see around me we got Toni Morrison, Amiri Baraka, Ntozake Shange, and Gloria Naylor to name a few. Those particular titles are autographed, first edition, mint condition and range from just under $200 to $800. There are much cheaper donated books also, especially kids books, it all depends on what you want.

I'll donate when the gofundme kicks off are you posting that here or will we need to connec twith you via PM?

My last semester at school one of the professors showed us Sankofa, one of the most important films you'll ever see

Definitely. THAT is a real slave movie.

Where do I donate? I owe you some business anyway.

The gofundme isn't up yet it goes up starting June 1st. So for right now we're taking donations directly at the store. Usually we do them with the purchase made but some people prefer to just give the donation instead. I'm not gonna be in until Monday so if you want you can call me at the store on Monday its 202-234-4755. If you didn't want to wait you can call tomorrow my colleague can take care of you just tell her Yonathan referred you so she know what you talking about.

Anything is plenty, but I'll work on making coli cash an acceptable form of payment. :yeshrug:
