They was doing waaayyy too much. Africans can cut you deeper when they tell you how you disappointed the family as opposed to physical punishment. I'm an adult now, but my family can reduce me to tears if I was doing something that was seriously dishonorable. I can't see myself in this world as a constant individual. I belong to my family and my family belongs to me.

honestly, I think I only been beaten twice with a switch and a iron hanger when I was 6-7, but besides that, just a few slaps ion the back of my head when I was a preteen. never had hand put on me since.
