Legion of Doom (the famously physical, tall, heavy, intimidating and high scoring Philadelphia flyers forward Line who terrorized opposing defenses and goaltenders back in the mid to late 1990s.

The vaunted line:
John Leclair at left wing
Eric Lindros at center
Mikael Renberg at right wing

« The Legion of Doom was a forward line for the Philadelphia Flyers who played together between 1995 and 1997 comprising centreEric Lindros, left winger John LeClair and right winger Mikael Renberg. They were given this name not only for their offensiveplay, but also their ability to dominate games physically; each of the three were six foot two or taller and weighed over 230 pounds.[1] The name was coined by journeyman Flyers centre Jim Montgomery and popularized by Flyers announcer Gene Hart.[2] »

It's sad how injuries and concussions capped how great Eric Lindros could have been.

The Splash brothers of the golden state warriors until 2024( elite and productive shooting guards Steph curry and Klay Thompson) it was a modern twist of the original nickname, the Bash brothers ( power hitters/sluggers Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire of the late 80s/early 90s oakland athletics)

The New York Sack Exchange were the front four defensive line of the American football team New York Jets of the National Football League during the early 1980s. The line consisted of Mark Gastineau, Joe Klecko, Marty Lyons and Abdul Salaam.[1]

Success

It wasn't a question of whether we'd get to the quarterback, it was how many times."
–Marty Lyons[1]
In November 1981, Gastineau, Klecko, Salaam and Lyons were invited to ring the ceremonial opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, which served as the inspiration for their nickname.[1] Gastineau and Klecko competed to see which defensive end could record the most sacks.[4] In 1981, the Jets led the league with 66 sacks.[5] The Jets reached the 1982 AFC Championship Game.

Salaam was replaced in the starting lineup by Kenny Neil in 1983, then traded after the season.[6] However, Gastineau, Klecko, and Lyons continued to have success for several years, with Gastineau and Klecko making two more Pro Bowls apiece, even after the Jets shifted to the 3-4 defense in 1985. Lyons, the last active member of the Sack Exchange, retired after the 1989 season.[7]
