Simon Chinery, 28, was left drenched in blood and his right hand cut down to the bone after he was attacked at an ATM by a knife-wielding man wearing a clown suit.
Now, Chinery is unable to use his hand as the crazed clown sliced through four ligaments.
As he tried to fight off the evil funnyman, Chinery grabbed the 10-inch knife and then his hand “exploded” as the clown pulled away. At a local hospital, doctors attempted to fix his sliced up hand.
But repairs were hopeless and he’s now considered disabled.
“I had never been so petrified in all my life,” Chinery told the Daily Star. “It has left me feeling sick to the bottom of my stomach — it was literally something from a horror movie.”
Chinery described the attacker as “petrifying” and disguised by a green wig, with black eye make-up, red nose and red beard.
“It wasn’t a mask of sorts, it was more scary makeup. I just panicked when I saw the knife — he pointed it towards me and I just used my instinct by grabbing the knife and he pulled at the same time,” the victim said. “In that moment I think I just wanted the knife away from me, I could have been in intensive care or worse if it had slashed my neck. My fingers then just exploded — there was blood everywhere.”
Doctors aren’t sure whether the injury is permanent but no matter what, Chinery will need reconstructive surgery.
“I was absolutely hysterical when I saw him,” Chinery added. “People behaving like this really need to stop — I have been having nightmares and the pain is unreal.”
