It's a dope album, but received pretty much universal "good" acclaim. Lots of other albums were far more praised.

Personally I think it is top 10-15 of the year material but I'm not sure about classic.

what do you have ranked higher? It's probably my 3rd fav behind good kid m.A.A.D. City and Channel Orange

The Idler Wheel, Lonerism and Shields are also up there. I don't really care too much for Beach House or Bloom even though people seem to be in love with that album :ehh:

For me it went

1) Lonerism -- by a landslide
2 and 3) Tie between Bloom and Good Kid Maad City
4) A huge dropoff down to Chairlift's "Something"
5) The rest, including Twin Shadow, Frank Ocean, Grimes, and others. I would probably stick Cloud Nothings in the top 10 if I had to make out a whole list

anyone agree or disagree with this notion?

I've had it for probably 6 months and still haven't listened, I'll have to give it a try now. I bought Japandroids and something else of the strength of one review and I sopped listening to all three records after listening to a couple of them.

Edit: After reading the rest of your review realized the other record I bought was Bloom by Beach House

Are you Mf Madprops on youtube? Seen a guy with an MF Doom avi on there commenting on a Lonerism song that said "it kind of scares me how good this band is"

One of my favorite records from last year, but hearing this just made me commit never really taking em that serious again. I HATE a act that sounds like shyt live. :scusthov:

This is album isn't even one of the 5 best things Albini even produced last year. Forget comparing it to EVERYTHING else that came out.

Just listened to this for the first time. Bout to throw it in the bushes. The song with the most promise (Wasted Days) would be about 500% better if half the sound wasn't aimless guitar wanking around.

I remember when these guys first came out about two or so years back. I knew a Russian kid named Alex who put me on to them during a jam sessions. I actually liked them. Forget about 'em after my laptop's hard drive crashed. Glad I came across this thread.
