that can be many vsts used. A pitch down sample with a little distortion over the melody line. a small filter over the drums. There are a lot of effects in here that give it it's sound.

You did a great job on your beat.. I use FL to distort my sample or just my samplers "MPC2000XL & Yamaha SU700"

not really entirely pleased with the drums but I think its a good start. this semester I'm taking music theory and music fundamentals so hopefully that shows through my work. also get a actual pc with an good audio card/speakers and not my audio technicas and laptop lol.

I feel like I be trying to make shyt too layered at times tho. Like that beat in the op from youtube. it sounds fukking massive and minimal at the same time. I want that type of sound.

reverbs, delays, distortion, saturation, filters...that style is pretty effect heavy. pretty sure clams does a lot of time-stretching and reversing with his samples too.

camel crusher, soundtoys decapitator, ohmicide: melhoman (never used it but supposed to be dope), even a guitar amp plugin like amplitube can help you get that fuzz you want.

props. I feel once I get the effects down it'll be a wrap since I have no shortage of dope ass samples to flip in this style.

Well any vst will do it, as opposed to the vst's this time the work has to come from the plugins themselves good distortion plugins are

1. Ohm Force – Ohmicide
2. Camel Audio – Camel Phat
3.Native Instruments – Guitar Rig
don't lat Guitar rig's name full you if you use the effect on pads it really gives your pads a different sound.

A lot of times people spend so much time looking for new vst's that they neglect updating there effect library. Sometimes all you need are new effects to get your sounds sounding completely different.

he actually doesnt use any of that. its all mp3 samples in a sequencer. the bits sounds of the mp3s he used are sometimes shyt, thus giving it that fuzzy distorted sound. he does use some effects tho, like reverb and echo, so that the pitch bend isnt so obv.

now a days he probably has a better studio, but when he was making the lil b stuff, it was when he had a shytty comp and used kazaa to download samples. a lot of guys from the early forum days were doing it, yall probably too young to remember mp3.com, but you could literally go on there and find LOADS of amateur classical, jazz, blues stuff. all for free for anyone to download. it was like soundcloud except back then the internet was still kinda new and mp3 theft hadnt been been demonized, streams werent good yet, so you could download everything for free. amateur jazz bands putting their work on mp3.com for free, and with download enabled, those were the days. :pachaha:
