this is a new low. even though he is a staunch defender of the little guy in the ukraine/russia conflict, i never tried to do any "gotcha" posts toward him on palestine, given the obvious incongruency. assume good faith and let people explain their positions on each conflict before attacking or trolling.
88m3 is emotional. maybe he is a brooklyn jew who cant separate his emotions from discourse - maybe he is just extremely islamophobic - i dont know. im astonished he can see all the ethics and history rationales given for the positions taken on israel/palestine and then see another conflict with some arabs and act like he has a "gotcha" because he thinks that we just have mindless positions based on identity politics. dude doesnt seem to understand that most of us dont even fukk with most arab governments at all.
i havent been using the language of "good guys". i actually tried to speak against trivial behavior regarding war in the early days of the ukraine thread. quite frankly, i consider ukraine to be full of a not insignificant number of fascist cacs but i support their right to resist oppression. i give partial blame to NATO for instigation but ultimately most of the blame falls on russia for choosing violence against a weak state. that is a nuanced take - the kind that 88m3 seems to be incapable of.
i support the palestinian cause because they were living there and got violently displaced and have been gaslit and abused ever since. it's that simple. i dont care about their ethnicity or religion. i am a secular black american. i dont like religious governments like hamas or ethno states like israel. i have empathy for jewish people because antisemitism has been long standing and it reached a murderous peak in the 20th century. israel's behavior is not in a vacuum. they are paranoid and emotionally wounded in ways i can somewhat understand as a descendant of chattel slavery. but wrong is wrong and this is wrong. europe and america own some blame for choosing to sick traumatized people on the palestinians instead of improving the western world for all minorities.
there needs to be a solution that grants a true state to both sides and it needs to be done ASAP. there also needs to be leaders from both sides brought up on war crimes charges and punished.
now if 88m3 sees anymore conflicts with muslims or arabs somewhere in the world and gets curious about my feelings, he can stop the fox news tactics, re-read this and deduce how i might feel about it.
