If Hitler didnt despise the slavs and came to Russia under the guise of "liberating" them from Stalin, the Russian people would have flocked to him and he would have won WW2.

The way he saw it, he was gonna go to war with the commies eventually. Strike quick and get it over as soon as possible. The red army was purged of all its top generals. If it wasnt for the winter and Zhukov being a military genius, he may have just pulled it off.
Anyway, it plagues my mind to think that a country that was absolutely decimated by the Nazis, embraces Nazi ideology with open arms. Makes zero sense to me.

The Russians heavily relied on Caspian oil. These were transported via the Volga north. If the Russians lost at Stalingrad their throat would have been slit and the Germans would have got a new oil supply.
Speaking to a Russian girl that I go to school with and she argued that Russia was actually gearing up to invade Germany and that because offensive operations were in motion, they were not prepared for defensive actions and that is why Hitler made so much ground early on. Not my words, hers. Her great uncle served in Stalingrad and was part of a group that was sent ahead of the front line. They only had two rifles and a handgun between them.
From speaking with Russian emigres, the young Neo Nazis there are the western equivalent of emos. Its a fad for young people disillusioned with the current status quo, whom get manipulated by seriously shady characters into embracing Neo Nazism. These people are trained, just like a soldier.
Seriously scary stuff.
Few good documentaries on them, if anyone is interested.

With that said, Ive lot an awful lot of really good Russian folk. There is a lad on here(I forget his username) who is black and he is engaged to a Russian girl. He has nothing but good things to say about them.

But that's what I'm saying, his initial plan was the oil fields but then diverts more resources for the issues in Stalingrad. Taking the oil fields would of been enough alone and would of brought Russia to its knees.
Stalin was keen to keeping their truce with the Nazis before Hitler invaded, and it could be for the reason your friend said. But I've always wanted to visit Russia. Really just Moscow and St. Petersburg. I might fukk around and get lynched goin into the Russian wilderness.
