Everyone loves Oscar winner Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight, right? Well, if Bat-director Christopher Nolan originally had his way then the late actor would have starred in Batman Begins ... as Bruce Wayne!

Nolan was the featured guest at The Film Society of Lincoln Center this week to talk about his Batman trilogy and Gothamist (no, it's not a Batman fan site) has the skinny on what he had to say there:

"Nolan originally sat down with Heath Ledger for a preliminary talk about possibly playing Bruce Wayne; Ledger said at the time that 'he'd never do this kinda film.' But when time came to cast The Joker, Ledger had warmed up to it. 'He had a vision for something,' Nolan said. He added that Ledger 'didn't like to work too much,' so he was 'hungry' for the role when he was approached. Ledger was also cast before the movie was completely written, so he had a long time to prepare for it."

That Joker mentality ain't no joke brehs. Heath took it too far, he became too depraved...it may have lead to some form of depression.

After he died, Jack Nicholson had an interview where he was like "I warned him about that role". shyt became kind of a meme on IMDB for awhile.

This is assuming that all the pill popping was a result of him trying to "self medicate", and not just a dude trying to party that took it too far....
