What do you all know about the ancient Chinese Army that was made of clay thousands of years ago? It's crazy how 8,000 individual soldiers were made in a time frame and manner that would be difficult for us to produce today.

More interesting is the color purple that was used.

The paint that was used, specifically the purple, is advancing our current understanding of quantum physics?

Of course my first though is that a religious practice encouraged synthetic chemistry to be develop that sheds light on how our universe works...

So this paint is being used to expand our knowledge of how the universe works. Can someone drop some knowledge about this?

Some people say that they (ancient Chinese) received knowledge about this from Egypt (blue) but apparently scientist are saying that this isn't true. Then again, look at the faces on those statues. :to:

lol are you suggesting the chinese stone soldiers were patterned after black "faces"?

and re: purple I think it was the color of royalty in the mediterranean area cause you had to sail past a certain point to extract the resources to get the dye for that color, it was just rare. Not sure about China

lol, naw, but I mean I just decided to look it up and was confused on the noses and some of the features. I guess the ancient Chinese looked different.

And the way the made purple was deeper than dye.

interesting writeup

Purple - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The actual color of Tyrian purple, the original color purple from which the name purple is derived, is the color of a dye extracted from a mollusk found on the shores of the city of Tyre in ancient Phoenicia (present day Lebanon) that in classical antiquity became a symbol of royalty because only the very wealthy could afford it. Therefore, Tyrian purple was also called imperial purple.

Han purple is a type of artificial pigment found in China between 500 BC and AD 220. It was used in the decoration of the Terracotta Army.
[edit]

The color royal purple is shown at right. This shade of purple is bluer than the ancient Tyrian purple.
The first recorded use of royal purple as a color name in English was in 1661.[15]
In 1990, royal purple was formulated as one of the Crayola crayon colors.
