100%, which is why they should make investments in their own stadiums. TF do everyday taxpayers look like giving you money to make your asset more valuable when you sell it later and don't share any of the profits with them?

We should be more like the UK. When a footy team wants a new or renovated stadium over there, they build it or renovate it themselves.

And there's a benefit for the owners to build their own stadium without taxpayer money
I believe in the recent New England Patriots documentary, Robert Craft bought the team and the real estate of the Football stadium as well. It ended up making him even more money if he didn't build the stadium himself

And Republicans in the legislature tried to introduce legislation to pay for this without debate in the chamber. It’s pretty bipartisan effort to squash it along an influential right leaning interest group with some clout firmly against funding a stadium (big time small govt/bootstraps org).

A "stadium district". They building a mini city apartment complex or the team lol
They got plenty of apartments out there and steadily building more

Mixed used development around stadiums is the new hustle. These team owners not only want people to pay for their stadiums, they want them to pay them to become real estate moguls.

The thing is, once it’s built and everyone enjoys the atmosphere nobody gives a shyt about where the money came from. If the government isn’t giving your money to an owner who will build something you actually want they will just give it to some other rich a$$hole building something you will never know exists. It ain’t like they gonna take the money and give it to teachers or the schools.

I don’t remember where the money came from to build the Braves complex, all I know is I love going down there. The Braves have a top 3 if not highest attendance rate by capacity in the majors because of The Battery.
