There was nothing new said here so I don't know you're talking about anybody waking up. Black people voicing their anger with the local political structure at events like these has gone on for decades.

This whole talking point of black people are brainwashed by white liberals has always been bullshyt. It is propagated by the right, and quite condescending because it assumes black people are ignorant and gullible and don't know anything better than following whatever the two boogeymen Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson tell them.

Black people have never been gung ho Democrats who love white liberals. We vote for them because the alternative is Republicans

You vote them despite them having not done a DAMN thing for you. And I agree that the Republican party needs restructuring. However a party that barely receives 5% of the black vote in EVERY election isn't going to make an appeal to black voters. Blacks need to concoct an agenda and vote those in office who'll work in their best interest (regardless of party).

It's truthfully the politicians we vote for NOT the party. And voting for the right candidate alone wont solve the problem. Lobbying that politician and making sure he furthers our agenda is the most important step. Unfortunately blacks don't even have an agenda to push. You can't expect any political party or politician to "do something for you" if you don't put in the work. And you definitely will get passed up if you don't even have a workable agenda on the drawing board.
I'm just saying we ought to be conscious voters. As of now we continually cast our votes to democrats. And it has been democrats and democratic policies that have held power in every predominately black area in the United States. And conditions in the black community are quite severe. If you want to talk about a political system that has not only done anything for us but is partly to blame for the decadence within our communities I suggest you start pointing your finger to the left.

What have Repubs done for us though when they were in office though? Hell when Reagon was in office that ushered in so much hell on the community, it still hasn't recovered. Democrats are just the lesser of the 2 evils like @Mephistopheles is saying imo

Local politics is a lot more significant to our everyday lives than politics on the national level.
