CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The manager of a local gentleman's club was shot dead, and a woman inside the sports car he was driving was wounded, early Sunday in the Goose Island area, Chicago Police said.

42-year-old Charles Jones, a managing partner of The Factory Chicago, a south side gentlemen's club, was driving a 2007 Maserati with his fiancé Kathy Bais in the passenger seat when they were side swiped by a 2005 silver Buick LaCrosse.

Both cars stopped, both drivers exchanged words and ultimately Jones and Bais were shot multiple times by the other driver.

"I think he shot him twice, I'm not for sure but after I seen my boyfriend hit the ground I knew he was coming back for me so I ran and I jumped in his car to try to zoom off, and he shot in the car, he shot me in the back," said Kathy Bais, Jones' fiancé.

While Bais, a hair stylist, survived the Sunday morning shooting, her fiancé of two years Charles Jones did not.

"He was just a good guy. Everybody that met him loved him, he always left a good impression on everybody from the kids to the adults, he was just a wonderful man and he just didn't deserve that," said Bais.

From her hospital room, Bais told FOX 32's Tisha Lewis about the love of her life who was killed in cold blood.

"I saw my boyfriend on the ground choking in his own blood and I just held him until the ambulance got there," said Bais.

"We don't know if it was road rage or just a set up as far as him being a businessman," said Andrew Holmes.

Jones' fiancé is Holmes' cousin.

"We're just asking that the businesses that are around that area that if you have surveillance video of what happened that you turn that into the Chicago Police Department. We understand that there were people out there with their cell phones too, we're asking that they turn that over too," said Holmes.

Holmes, who is best known for comforting victims of violence across Chicago, found himself needing support.

"We're going to pull through," said Holmes.

The shooting broke out about 2:50 a.m, when Jones was shot in the head.

The Buick fled south after the shooting, and Area Central detectives and the police Major Accident Investigation Unit continue to search for the car and its occupant(s) Sunday.

Lol dude got smoked in a car like that? Seems unlikely it was a random road rage case so he probably knew he was a target. Id be rolling in a bullet resistant nissan sentra before i let myself be open season in a rich mans car.
