During the huge push in 2015 and 2016...Charlotte kept going over on PPV even though Sasha was getting mini Daniel Bryan level support. Her admission at last that she needed the belt to remain a player while Sasha would be over and be a star no matter what.
Sasha’s one of the greatest performers today. She will go down as one of the greatest female wrestlers of all time. I don’t want to say that necessarily that Sasha was mad, but Sasha is that competitive. That’s why she brings out the best in me and I bring out the best in her is because she wants to be the best and I want to be the best. At that time if I was to put myself in Sasha’s shoes: she had just come off (NXT Takeover) Brooklyn against Bayley. One of the greatest matches. She probably in her mind thought 'why isn’t the title going to me?' I can’t blame her for that. I just think it was hard for me knowing that I wish people could be more understanding that I needed the title to make me, and she didn’t.

" and talking about how she's the cornerstone of the division and blah blah, Charlotte just doesn't have the connection to the crowd that Sasha, Becky, and Bayley all formed naturally. Maybe she did in NXT (I haven't watched their stuff from back then), but it's not there on main. So they basically sacrificed Sasha and Bayley (to a lesser extent; it was the Alexa feud that really killed Bayley) to reinforce the image they want to portray of Charlotte as just on another level compared to the rest. They also depushed Becky once Charlotte moved to Smackdown, and will likely depush Naomi now. The fans clearly don't agree that Charlotte is their favorite and the best, but when has that stopped WWE from pushing who they want?
