describe how was the transition from your first career job to the next one? Was it difficult for you especially in this economic climate when you have to keep with your teeth for the job?

I'm talking the first job, where you been working straight out of college (the job is in your field o education) and you have worked for about 2-3 years but you want to change it cause now you gained experience, knowledge and shyt and you want to advance/ get more money , but they cock-block you at your current company cause they still see you as that little fukker who first started working here, and they are not valuating you at your true value

I say go for it. nothing wrong with seeking out potentially better and higher paying opportunities. it's the american way. My last 3 jobs I worked at I worked for 7 years, 18 months, and now 1 month at my current job that pays me the most money I have ever made and allows me to work at home everyday.

the 7 year job was easy. close to my crib, convenient, and comfortable. I also had a lot of vacation time. but I needed to get more money, and I couldn't get it there. so it was time to move on.

I left my first gig after 1.5 years.

Got more money and closer to a major city.

I been here since April 2012 and already seeking higher pay :blessed:

i was SUPER stressed and depressed when I first left but WAY happier now. so make sure it is the right choice.

.

this is how I felt when debating switching jobs this last time about 2 months ago. stressed like crazy. ended up making the right decision:

  • more money
  • work at the crib every day
  • boss in another state
  • fortune 500 company
in hindsight I dunno why I even considered staying at my old job :snoop:

most people are scared of change. Even if the change is better for you in favor of just being comfortable at a job.

i really think it is the right choice, as i will make the transition from a small company (20-25 people) to one of the largest in the world in my domain...not only my salary will increase by 40-50% but i do have the chance to advance and to learn newer and more interesting things as i'm at the beginning of my career

I did that a couple months ago...left a company I worked for since I graduated grad school in dec of 06..got hired april of 07 and spent a little over 6 years there....however as I picked up skills and experience there was no room for me to grow...raises weren't as forthcoming...I loved all the vaca time I accumulated though..but it just became stagnant and repetitive...and it was affecting my job performance negatively..it took me a couple years to find that new job but it happened...and now im a lot happier in my professional life...I make more money, have more corporate perks, got privileges...and of course a MEAN workload in return land having to start from the beginning with vaca time..but at least I get a week added every 2 years instead of 5 from the last job lol

I get tired of jobs really quickly so I never feel much of anything moving from one position/company to the next. The best advice I can give you is to write a list of what you hate about your current job and turn them into questions for the interview. At one place, I sat near the bathroom :scusthov: and you better believe I asked if I were to be hired where would my desk be located. :manny: Also apply for jobs you may feel your under-qualified for. That's going to guarantee is most cases there is room to grow. While you're look for another gig and if they offer it at your current company, sign up for all the training you can and keep the certificates of completion too.

I worked in my field for 5 years. I hated it. The state was changing laws for my professional license which pretty much made it so that I had to go back to school ie put myself in debt in order to keep doing the same job for the same money. On top of that my boss was a bytch and the company I worked for just wasn't me so ...I became a stripper. lol Not the course that most would take but honestly the best decision I ever made.

It's not for everyone but it works for me. I went to the best club in the area got hired and then a week later quit my 9 to 5.

The money is better and the job is fun but the best part is the free time and connections that you get. I'm able to run a business selling wholesale items online during the day and work as little as 4 hours at night. My schedule is completely open. I go in and leave at whatever time I want. Also b/c I run a home based business the majority of my bills are tax write offs. I use the business to funnel dancer money and LEGALLY pay little to nothing in taxes. I took a tax preparer course with Liberty and became certified by the IRS.

The connections are also great b/c you meet a ton of professionals and people who are creative, on their grind and about make their own money instead of waiting for a pay check. The strip club/ night club scene is pretty small too but once you're in and people like you you're good and can pretty much get a job anywhere. There is always a new club so you are never get bored and once you worked at one spot you can walk in the door after a year and hit the floor like nothing happened. Working vacations are great too.

It honestly hasn't affected my personal life b/c most of the people I know are hustlers (even the professionals) or they're just not bold enough to say it to my face. The only place it seems to bother people is this website.

good to hear. i was just scared to uproot and start over and find a comfy place to live with roommates etc

but looking back, it was the better choice

This is the dilemma I have been dealing with for a long while. I have been wanting to leave this job for sometime, but I am so comfortable and get away with a bunch of shyt that i'm apprehensive to go somehwere else. 2 weeks from now is my 10 year anniversary. I truly believe my time is up here. So tired of the people and bullshyt I deal with here. Waking up to come in is a fukkin struggle everyday :snoop: :sadcam:

well yeah. its a pain in the ass to step outta one's comfort zone in order to learn something, new, but u gotta play the long term game and decide what u want in ur career. if the new job is a better long term plan, then you should probably go for it. never let comfort dictate how your career progresses.
