I asked in the the locker room but I figured I'd post it in here as well:

Any of you ever bought one.

Just got some bad news on my 2007 Nissan Murano. The transmission is failing. Over the past 5-6 months I got three Check Engine Lights and my mechanic recommended me to a transmission specialist and he said it's failing. It's only a matter of time so I might as well get another car.

A new one is out of the question...I absolutely do not want a car payment. I bought this one brand new in 2007. I'm not someone who gets a new car every few years. I want it to last.

I want something around the same size as the Murano...a crossover SUV. So I'm thinking Toyota or Honda.

What other brands you all recommend?

FWD vs AWD vs 4WD?
CVT vs automatic?
Hybrid vs Gas?

I'm not a car person at all.

Budget is $25,000.

But they got CVT as well...from what I seen.

Does it matter depending on the brand?

The Murano I have is a CVT.

CVT by reputation on its transmission is horrible. every car enthusiast site hates them..:pachaha: you might just outright need a better car and not a nissan. I would look into honda SUV's... Honda is a stronger brand for being reliable...

Damn thing is going to cost $7,700 to replace. Might as well get a new vehicle.

Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
Yeah man, Nissan CVTs are a no go.

Coincidence that i'm going through something of that nature right now with this type of tranny (no homo).

Car been clunky since the last oil change back in Thanksgiving week...

Thought it was just the new oil needing to cycle and the cold weather.

Been driving it like that ocassionally for the past 6-7 months and finally got it looked at/dropped off at Nissan this morning and now they're saying it may need a rear differential (brought back to the same dealership that changes my oil... funny they didn't notice this when they changed my oil the last few times). Was actually going to sell it to them but they needed to do an inspection on it because it's a high end car.

This is a 2016 GTR.

Looks like your boy is going to have to cancel that trip to Nintento World and Kennedy Space Station excursion this Septiembre.

Sucks cuz i baby this fukker; no track, no racing... never even launched it (i'm the second owner, it was originally a lease return).

Not anticipating that call from Nissan tomorrow about the cost.

Fukk man... this sucks cuz i was planning on selling it but i gotta get this fixed first.

Good luck on whatever car you get into.

Piece of mind in life >>>>>>>
