Castlevania: SOTN how well does it hold up?

So I was on XBLA and I noticed that SOTN is on sale for only 320 MS points....
I never had a chance to play castlevania or metroid games but I recently got Dust: Elysian Tail and i've enjoyed it immensely.
I've heard a lot about SOTN, it won a lot of GOTY awards back in the day, but my first time playing it was today (free trial) it seemed cool but i'm still undecided.....

Definitely buy it. MetroidVania. Second favorite overall music score in a video game behind Final Fantasy Tactics.
