AWw chea!
I think we should show respect to the Guitar Legend Carlos Santana.
Mexican from Jalisco Mexico by way of the Bay area..San Francisco.
He got well known on the scene by playing guitar at LSD parties..(people doing LSD and watching tripping films and tripping psychedelic stuff on projectors.
He was using Mesa Boogie amps..where he also was known throughout the city by testing g out the amps in the shop and his playing attracted people...he proclaimed. "MAN THIS Amp really boogies" ...thus they named the Amp.
His distinct playing....brehs we all know a Santana lick and his playing when the record drops.
BUT WHAT MAKES SANTANA SOUND LIKE SANTANA...
Melodic blues based playing..with a heavy usage of the Dorian mode/harmonic minor....all minor scales.
For example to play in KEY OF A DORIAN MODE
The notes of the A Dorian scale are A B C D E F# G. It's key signature has 1 sharp
Also he tries to mimic flamenco guitar playing.
His influences he states were B.B King..John Lee Hooker..T bone walker and Gabor Szabo for guitar...RIP to those legends
Miles Davis was a huge influence on Santana the band as a whole as well. And Likewise Miles dug Santana's shyt.
Also he released an Album with Isley Brothers called POWER OF PEACE
