Carl Froch has dismissed a rematch with Andre Ward after claiming the Californian boxer would beat him on points.
Instead Froch has revealed that negotiations over his dream showdown with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in Las Vegas are nearing completion.
WBA and IBF super-middleweight champion Froch has sought a meeting with Chavez Jr since stopping George Groves for the first time in November 2013 and is now confident that promoter Eddie Hearn will deliver the fight.
It had been rumoured that Froch would look to get his revenge on Ward after his points defeat when the duo met back in 2011, but the Nottingham fighter is only interested in creating a Box Office frenzy.
'Professional boxing is a business first and foremost, let’s not forget that. People talk about Andre Ward. But I don’t want to fight Andre Ward, he’ll probably beat me on points,' Froch told BT sport.
'I’m a fighter and if I didn’t knock him out he would beat me on points. He’s not a big fight. American TV don’t want to show him on Box Office. So what’s the point?'
