A car has crashed into the South Barricade of the U.S. Capitol Building, according to U.S. Capitol Police.
The driver, who is the only occupant of the car, is in custody. Police say the car did not enter the secure perimeter.
D.C. Fire and EMS are also on scene.
The immediate area of New Jersey and Independence Avenue in D.C. is currently closed to traffic. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
