Last week, Daniel Bryan defeated his former best friend Kane, but once again failed to win the favourable opinion of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, who mused about whether or not he could find a way to ensure neither Bryan nor John Cena exit SummerSlam with the WWE Title. Man, if only there was a way for a wrestler to surprise the WWE Champion with an impromptu title match when the champion was at his least aware. Oh well, I'm sure Vince will think of something. In the meantime, Stephanie McMahon suggested that perhaps Bryan could have a "corporate makeover", which I'm sure will go off without a hitch.
Meanwhile, after Alberto Del Rio attempted to circumvent Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero and choose his friend Ricardo Rodriguez as his opponent for SummerSlam, he instead found himself at the mercy of random chance, and now must face Christian for the World Heavyweight title. And you may or may not remember that Christian's very first World title reign came at the expense of…Alberto Del Rio.
Plus, CM Punk continues to stalk Paul Heyman, who must rely on Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel for protection while Brock Lesnar is off doing…whatever it is he does. One would imagine that Heyman can't run forever, but he does seem adept at it, and one never knows when Lesnar might suddenly appear.
And the Wyatt Family continues to target Kane for some reason known only to them, Kaitlyn must deal with even more betrayal after Layla stabbed her in the back on Smackdown, and The Shield continues its war with Mark Henry, tonight on Raw!
