I usually write like this:

yada yada rhyme/ yada yada rhyme

and usually repeat that sequence.

Sometimes I'll do:

yada rhyme yada rhyme/ yada yada rhyme

Usually I'll do a short pause at the / or sometimes I just write a complete sentence.

Any advice on how to improve my flow? If you need an example or don't know what I'm talking about, peep the song below. I'm just trying to better myself.

This is my recent recording:

come up with the flow first, just hum random syllables with random deliveries until you find a good 'pocket' in the beat, that sounds catchy.

Once you have the flow write you're lyrics around it, rather than try to fit you're lyrics to the beat.

The more lyrics you can come up with in your head, the better they will be memorized, and the more confidently they will be delivered and flow.

I write to the beat before I flow, which I should be doing the opposite. If I'm trying to pick a flow I usually do it while I recite my lines. And I;m already memorizing my lines, so that's part of it done.

But I have a question. Should I be flowing to the drums more or the harmony/melody?

I would say practice practice practice and not be afraid to try different flows. But most importantly working with others who are on the same level if not better than you. Collaborate with as many people as possible and see how they come onto the tracks you might learn a thing or two from the next artist. my 2 cents!

not that im in any position to coach anyone on the subject, id say try to match the energy of the track with your voice/inflections

I worked with some heads who are fukkin ill. They put me on to stuff as well. Only did 4-5 tracks with them, but like 3 of them I came off :scusthov:

Worked with another cat who was mellow. The beat we went on was just to raw to come off like that, so I went hard.

Aside from that I'm just really doing my own thing right now. Trying to get more practice in to get better.

all about the rhythm I think my mom told me that and it all clicked. after a while you just find yourself humming to the beats and your flow just kinda grows from there
