Can pride exist without ego?

In your opinion are they synonymous? Are they good or bad? They both can lead to arrogance and vanity. They also can be sources of confidence and motivation.

My answer:

Pride is based on who you are and what you have accomplished.

Ego is based on who you think you are, or want to be.

How Ego And Pride Are Different

Ego is comparing yourself to others. Ego is ideas such as ‘I am superior to others’. Taking pride in oneself is altogether a different thing.

To take pride in oneself is to be very humble. There is not even a question of being superior to others — everyone is unique in his own right. This is the understanding that goes with taking pride in oneself: that nobody is higher than anyone else, nor is anyone lower than anyone else. In this existence, a small grass flower and the greatest star in the sky, both have the same value. If even this small grass flower were missing, something would be missing in the whole existence that even the greatest star could not make up for.

Pride cannot exist without ego. The goal of mysticism is to transcend ego, (the sense of self). If this can be achieved, there is no sense of self. Such a person lives only in the present. Such a person sees existence without judging it. Everything just is.

If there is no judgment, what we call pride is just the name we give to an aspect of reality. To give something a name, is to make it separate from everything else. Naming something does not explain what you are referring to.

I see nothing wrong with ego as long as your are respectful of others.

Extreme success is not accomplished without a big ego.



But you can choose what to say, and what not to say.



And owning an animal that barks loudly, and inconveniences people is pretty egotistical.

Not in the cultural sense. But certain scenarios it can be for example the brotha Deontay when he fought Tyson Fury. nikka was prideful and got humbled real quick by that cac. Or if you have two prideful brothas with opposing views on topic they'll be at each other necks in a minute. You see that all the time on here. Like one thread were brehs who took pride in white collar careers were going at it with brehs who took pride in their blue collar careers.

Ego can fall under Pride. But not all pride is based on ego per say. Ego is based on arrogance.
