Why is it that certain teams have such a hard time cutting ties with players? Some will bring up finacial issues, I guess that's understandable but still not an excuse..

You always here that "such & such GM won't replace ___ player because of the look that they messed up."

Examples would be Matt Cassell, Mark sanchez, Blaine Gabbert...

We can all see they suck, yet they'll keep their spot so the GM doesn't look bad? Wouldn't it be better to admit ones mistakes and rebuild that position ASAP so it's fixed..

Idk just the fact that teams don't make changes WHEN EVERYONE can see its needed because of pride is foolish to me..

I get it with Sanchez/Gabbert.

They are young QB's and u need to give them time to develop....over the past, not a lot of good QB's have been "great' in the early stages of their career

But...with that said...im not buying into any of these QB's u listed

It could go for any position in sports, I used QBs just because..

The while point though, is why do GMs stick to a player KNOWING they need to make a switch BUT won't because it will show fault on their end ALL while still having to make that switch eventually..

It sounds dumb but I been hearing this 4ever with teams afraid to make a switch do to perception

I dont have anyone to throw out there, but I gotta assume that there are people out there that started slow, people werent sure, and they evolved into viable players

Sanchez to me, seems like he could be ok. I actually see him as a decent backup...but i mean, they went to the AFC championship game twice with him. It means something. U see a matt ryan come into his 5th year and finally get it together...i think thats the hope for some of these franchises that see progress

Gabbert tho? They need to cut ties immediately. And i really dont even see it with Sanchez...but i understand what they are doing

i see what you saying.
Example: GM trades for a player player ends up being a bum but instead of getting rid of him they keep him.

i think it's mostly pride. they just dont wanna look like a fool like they arent competent at their job.

I think it has to do with continuity. if you replace a bum with another bum than you will just be switching back and forth. you might as well just stick with the same guy and hope for the best. :manny:

Great example would be Jay Cutler. I mean for all they traded to get him, dude is just a poor man's Favre. Talk about getting ripped off, trade him already and get a real QB

easy. most GM's are tied to their investments. If they botch an investment as big as that one, you might not get another chance to make another investment. That's why people always say if such and such doesn't work out it could cost you your job

Alex Smith
Aaron Rodgers (not really an example but he sat and waitied 4 years till he played)
Eli (sort of)4

Imo you normally give a QB like 4 years before you decide to try something new (unless a new coach comes in or the qb really is THAT BAD)

It's no different than when regular people put a lot of money into their car, and it starts fukking up, but they keep the car and keep putting MORE money into it instead of just saying fukk it and struggle for a second until they can buy another car. Their excuse is "Well, I've already put X amount of money into it, so I can't give up on it" even though it'd be cheaper to just accept that you've lost the money already and just start over.

With Qbs, you don't really have a choice. Who are they going to turn to if they get rid of the shytty starter? A shytter backup? :heh:

It's easy to talk about getting rid of these guys but who do you bring in right now that's an upgrade? Sometimes a player just isn't what you expected but you don't have any other options.
