1.use chords and chord progression, the lowest octave note in a chord progression is a good note to use when making a baseline.

make more beats lol listen to other beats outside your style. Try replicating other beats so you can see what they did. chords are a must. Depends on your style but if you stick to piano, strings, bells, baselines usually it'll sound more realistic as opposed to a bunch of synth sounds because most people make their own sounds

Sometimes in order to get really good you just gotta learn how to copy a beat that has been made before just so you can feel the process and realize you can do it too
