Damn. I haven't watched this show in years. Just finished the pilot. Forgot how great it was. Rocket Man playing at the end :mjcry:

Season 1 is a perfect season of television. Even though there's a good amount of good stuff in later seasons, it should have ended there.

They kept trying to find excuses for this lonely, lovelorn, fukk-the-pain-away Hank to get into wacky sitcomy sex situations that undermine the depth of the original character in later seasons. This first season is such a perfect story of this lost character who wanders random paths knowing the only actual path to salvation is back to his true love which seems impassable.

It's an argument for the greatness of television to tell a serialized story as well as season 1 does but the trappings of television to unnecessarily expand a story beyond its borders like the later seasons do. Showtime does this often with so many of their shows.

But....but....but...but....

Do not let the potential lower quality of later seasons have you miss this first season. It is some of the best television can offer. (Later seasons have a lot to enjoy too...if you like the first, please continue, but you'll understand why ending w/ SSN 1 is a complete perfect story)

I admit the first season is flawless. But Season 2, is just as good. With the rockstar character.

Hell, I'd say seasons 1-4 is excellent.

This is what stops me from rewatching. I actually never finished the series (skipped the last season) because I kept comparing it to season 1 (and S2 to a lesser extent) and getting disappointed. Yeah there was some good moments throughout the series but as time went on, you could see how much time was spent around the writing table trying to figure out how they could find ways to show Hank getting new p*ssy. It became an R-rated version of a Fox sitcom.

Damn. I forgot Hank hooked up with that super fly Surfer Chick from the liquor store and never got her name. :mjcry: She was wife material.

It's crazy how Runkle's relationship with Dani turns him into a sexual deviant. Then Marcy turns him out by offering the 3 way :mjlol: Then his marriage goes to shyt :francis:
