Cornfields, cows, & an one stoplight town
For 2015, I'm going down the classics list and catching up on everything I haven't seen yet. I Netflix'd Cabaret last night, and it was excellent! I can't believe it didn't win Best Picture, after winning 11 Oscar awards for everything else. But I guess they couldn't completely shut out The Godfather that year. Anyway, the way they wove in the nazi's rise to power was pretty genius. So subtle yet powerful, and the ending camera shot with the nazis in the blurred mirror and complete silence left me :lawd:.

I especially enjoyed how they used the songs to tell the story, instead of weighing down the script with a lot of exposition. This one scene alone said more with a single song than three lengthy monologues. What's really cool is how innocent and benign this scene starts out and then it turns into something very disturbing, sorta like the entire third reich movement.

All in all, I loved it, and plan to cop the dvd for my collection.

One of the movies I've heard a lot about but never seen. I know so much about it and it's been in my queue for a while. I'll definitely check it out asap

Low-key Bob Fosse has to be one of the most underrated directors ever. The man's filmography is limited but brooding with excellence.
