Buju Banton will be a free man in a matter of days. Buju will be released on December 8, 2018, according to The US Federal Bureau of Prison website. Buju’s first show will be in Jamaica, according to his close friend and former manager, Donovan Germain. However, a date is yet to be announced by the reggae legend’s team.
In September, Buju Banton’s team announced via Instagram that the reggae legend will be embarking on a post-prison “Long Walk To Freedom” world tourin the summer of 2019.
Banton’s 10-year prison sentence was reduced by two months in January of 2016 months after the US Attorney’s Office in Florida announced an agreement in which it said the entertainer agreed to waive all future appeals of his 2011 conviction on cocaine distribution and conspiracy charges. In return, prosecutors agreed to drop a firearms charge against him
Buju, now 45-year-old, was arrested in December 2009, found guilty in February 2011 and was scheduled to walk a free man from the in February 2019, as the Bureau of Prisons initially indicated.

Buju Banton Set to be freed from Federal Prison Early !
INCARCERATED reggae singer Buju Banton may have a year removed from his 10-year mandatory sentence, according to United States prison records.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons’ website is reporting the artiste’s new release date is December 8, 2018.
Buju Banton, whose given name is Mark Myrie, is currently being held at McRae Correctional Facility in Georgia. He was arrested in 2009 on cocaine charges, given a mandatory 10-year sentence in 2011, and previously scheduled to be released in 2019.
In 2015 the United States Justice Department announced it would be releasing about 6,600 inmates early from prison in an effort to reduce overcrowding and provide relief to drug offenders who received harsh sentences. In that same year the entertainer said he would be halting any further appeals, while the US Attorney’S Office announced it would be dismissing firearms charge against the singer.

Buju Banton was finally released today after serving eight years at the McRae Correctional institution.
The United States embassy in Kingston are tight-lipped about when the 45-year-old entertainer can return to the country.
Buju, born Mark Myrie, was arrested in December 2009 after he was met by a convicted drug trafficker on a flight from Spain who planned to set up a cocaine deal for him. After his conviction of drug trafficking in February 2011, the reggae icon was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
His initial release date was February 2019, but was later revised to December 8, 2018.
Buju Banton recently released a statement making it very clear that his main focus upon his release is his music.
“Having survived, I want to share the good news and strength of my music. I just want to continue making music, which I’ve devoted my life to. I look forward to the opportunity to say a personal thanks to my fans and everyone who supported me,” Buju said.
