Sweet T feat Jazzy Joyce - its my beat (1986)

this was funky! :scusthov: i like how the first 8 bars of every verse she's doin this female Slick Rick delivery and then she gets into her own zone... produced by one of the most underrated producers of all time Hurby Luv Bug.. and feat a female on the wheels of steel Jazzy Joyce

Fu schnickens - ring the alarm (1991)

one of my first times hearing a mc spittin that fast.....
:dwillhuh: and people forget that Fu Schnickens was the first on that Kung fu tip before Wu tang

Super Cat - ghetto red hot (1992)

my first time seeing how real Jamaica is watchin this video
:leon: Super cat was a dude that really was busting his gun back in da day... and that redbone wit da long hair in the vid :ohlawd:

Poor Righteous Teachers - Shakiyla (1991)

nobody blended reggae in wit hiphop better than PRT... this group fathered the Fugees style and Wise Intelligent gave birth to Treach's flow

Digable Planets - 9th Wonder (1994)

Joints like this made me feel good to be black... i remember watchin this vid, took my braids out and rocked my afro to school one day.
this was my first time hearin Jazzy Joyce on wax since that Sweet T joint
:krs:

Grand Puba - 360 (1992)

Grand Puba is the godfather of new age swagger.. that slick talk Kanye and Weezy be spittin and the way they dress.... Puba was doing that 20 years ago

Oaktown's 357 - Yeah Yeah Yeah (1989)

this joint was a straight up banger and they looked good...
wut more can i say
:manny:

Nonchalant - 5 O' Clock (1996)

an anti drug dealing song so hot even drug dealers was feeling it lol

Ed O.G & Da Bulldogs - I Got To Have It (1991)

my first time learning Boston had a hood side... Ed O.G. is a criminally slept on mc. still is nice on the mic

Ultramagnetic MC's - Poppa Large (1992)

Kool Keith was the first mc to show u can make dope hiphop without making sense before mc's like Ghostface Killah

WHOA! :gladbron::ohhh:

You took it back for real with these joints. I see four of my all time favorite joints up there too; Supercat, 5 o'clock, Ring The Alarm and that Digable Planets 9th Wonder joint. Digable Planets' first album was great but that second album of theirs was always my favorite.

:krs: @ the Fu Schnick song. i think one of their albums was the first real Hip Hop i had of my own that wasn't dubbed from my older cousin or a friend. they were on the kung fu shyt before Wu but they were busting at the seams with pop references anyway.

i remember seeing the ad for that Nonchalant album in The Source all the time but never heard any of it.... time to d/l

Co sign this :wow:

Man, I can remember having that D-Nice joint on cassette tape!

Stetsaonic were ahead of their time. They almost remind me of The Roots in a way. Prince Paul is really an overlooked producer.

Digable Planets' 9th Wonder is one of my fave songs from them. Their whole second album was heavy on that pro-black shyt.

Xzibit's first appearance on wax

Underrated song from Rap-A-Lot

One of my favorite songs from early three6, same michael sample later used by Trae

Underrated song I just recently found after not hearing it for like 15 years thanks to the coli.
