Either that, or hope that the followers of both Christianity and Islam can embrace the "ground" thats common in both - The Golden Rule (caring for others as you would care for yourself)
There's an African Buddhist monk (one of the Tibetan sects) who lives in the building next to mine, and I see him on the street in his robes sometimes. I hear ignorant neighbors gossipping about him all the time. They think he's some kind of satanist.
Not all Buddhism requires vegetarianism. Early Buddhists weren't vegetarians at all.
Also, there have been vegetarians in Africa for thousands of years. Old Greek and Roman historians make note of vegetarian African communities in North and East Africa, for example.
