I liked it, strong performances. But yeah it is very predictable if you saw the commercial or previews.
You can tell Hollywood is anointing this Saoirse Ronan as the next big actress. I mean she's cool nothing bad to say about her but uh it seems fairly arbitrary who gets that 'it' tag especially with such a short resume.

Also Domhnall Gleeson is in this another actor they are just rolling out the red carpet for in Hollywood. Not that he sucks but it's just weird they get all these props all of a sudden.

I really enjoyed this movie. I was kinda upset at the turn it took, but I'm glad the main protagonist smartened up. Great acting, really good attention to period scenery, language, history. I know many here may regard this has a boring romance movie, but it was pretty compelling and I'm sure it represents a lot of people then and now who come to this country for the first time. I do wonder how the white audience I saw it with feels about this story being compared to the experience Mexican immigrants who come here, or if they even thought about that group at all. I couldn't get it out of my head.

Anyway, two thumbs up from me.
