SAN JOSE (CBS SF) — Sources reported early Tuesday evening that Denver Broncos rookie safety and onetime Oakland resident Ryan Murphy was involved by San Jose police in a prostitution sting.

The sting was part of Santa Clara County’s multi-agency human trafficking task force. Authorities were targeting an area of north San Jose known for prostitution.

According to sources, police detained a suspected prostitute in the area of a Motel 6 at North First Street and Brokaw. The woman told task force members that she had to go to a car to retrieve some property.

Murphy was inside that car along with his brother. Sources said Murphy was questioned and released by police. However, his brother and the suspected prostitute were cited.

Murphy grew up in Oakland and attended Oakland Tech. The rookie was drafted in the seventh round out of Oregon State last year by the Seattle Seahawks before being waived in September. He was picked up by the Broncos and added to their practice squad a month later.

So far there has been no comment from the team.

Eugene Robinson 2.0!!

He should have spoken to the Broncos instead :mjlol:

Eugene Robinson 'cried all night’ after Super Bowl, shares lesson with Panthers

SAN JOSE — Before the Carolina Panthers departed for Super Bowl 50, Eugene Robinson, the former NFL safety and current Panthers radio analyst, addressed the team with an important message.

“Don’t be like me,” Robinson said Tuesday.

The night before Super Bowl XXXIII, Robinson, then a member of the Atlanta Falcons, was arrested for soliciting prostitution in Miami. He played in the game, which the Falcons lost 34-19 to the John Elway-led Denver Broncos.

“I cried all night. Dude, I cried all night,” Robinson said. “I’ve shared my story with different church groups. It was painful. I cried the entire night. How did I get way over here when I was way over here?

"It’s easy to lose your way when you are selfish and thinking about yourself, and that’s the only thing you are thinking about. And that’s what I did. To hear the word solicitation is still painful for me. I’ve got to call it what it is. I don’t try to sugarcoat it.”

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Tuesday that Robinson was “courageous” in sharing his story and message with the team. Rivera said his players “seemed to respond very nicely and were appreciate of that as well.”

Panthers players have self-imposed a midnight curfew.

Just hours before Robinson was arrested, he received the Bart Starr Award for exemplifying outstanding character and leadership on and off the field. During the Super Bowl, he surrendered an 80-yard touchdown from Elway to Denver receiver Rod Smith that enabled the Broncos to build a two-touchdown lead.

Robinson says he stands as an example of what not to do before the Super Bowl.

“If a team beats you, that’s different,” he said. “But if you beat yourself, that’s criminal.

"I allowed myself to beat myself and to beat the team, and that was criminal.”
