Not in any order but my top list is
Luther
Endeavor
Sherlock
Poirot
DCI Banks
Father Brown
Tried Vera, coudnt get into it Midsommer is aiight.....
Next to look for is Line Of Duty and Happy Valley
Looking for recommendations -
Line Of Duty is as close as you'll get to a British
24, gets a bit silly sometimes but a lot of fun.
First series of
Broadchurch was solid
.
More of a drama/mystery but there's a 4 ep mini series called
The Virtues which is probably the best British TV I've seen in the last decade. Brutal tho.
80s/90s detective series if you can cope with the dustiness and are able to yohoho some of these:
-Jeremy Brett era Sherlock Holmes, excellent period renditions with the GOAT Sherlock and Watsons.
-
Cracker, probably the best British detective series of all time
Robbie Coltrane playing an alcoholic gambling addict criminal psychologist well before anti hero prestige drama properly caught fire. Way ahead of it's time.
-
Cadfael, 12th century monk solving crimes, bit theatre in the park sometimes but good acting and plotting.
-Since you mentioned
Endeavour, that series is a prequel to
Inspector Morse so you might like the OG. Mum used to watch it religiously.
