Opinions on this film?
What do y’all think of it?

I’ve been going back and rewatching a lot of De Palma’s films this past week.

I remember when I first saw this movie a few years ago and thinking by the second hour, it takes a slight turn and almost becomes another movie when Scully starts to act like he’s a porn producer to meet Holly Body (Melanie Griffith)

Another thing, this movie reminded how hard Melanie fell off once the 2000’s came around. jeez Louise! :pachaha:

I think overall it was a solid film; it never really loses steam or anything however nothing groundbreaking but it remains consistent throughout. Acting was solid.

Anyway, how well do you all think this film holds up? Classic? Great? Solid? Decent? Average? Wack?

Classic movie. Dressed To Kill and especially Blow Out are better, similar De Palma flicks, but this is still dope. Black humor and some great Hitchcocky setups with 80s excess style visuals.

And another thing, and I'm curious to know what y'all think.

but to me, 80's and 70's too, are the best era for Horror films.

post 80's, Horror movies aren't really scary to me

but the 80's and 70's era of Horror was legit scary and I think it's because it's more real. not CGI, just people in makeup and costume, so it's like realistic

word, bruh!

the only thing I didn't like about Dressed to Kill was the ending, with the dude being in the ward and it becoming sorta.... I don't know, like not realistic

all in all, Dressed To Kill is still one of his best tho.

Blow Out is classic. Top tier De Palma film.

and yeah, you can tell Vertigo and Rear Window were clear cut influences for Body Double

also, De Palma was created the concept for Body Double after interviewing Angie dikkinson's body doubles for Dressed To Kill.

Yeah the ending was kind of funny. Doesn't Alberto show up right at the end?

Didn't know that about the Angie double.

yeah,. you're talking about actor who played Hector in Scarface, lol.

he (Corso) shows up when Scully is trying to act like a porn director to meet Holly Body and goes to the porn studio.

Actually the guy who played Alberto in Scarface is a patient at the mental hospital in Dressed To Kill. Didn't even remember Hector was in the other flick.

Yeah, the other guy is in Body Double for all of maybe 3 minutes, like an hour and 15 minutes into the movie
