Speaking today during an appearance on Chris Jericho's 'Talk is Jericho' podcast, Rollins admitted that, because of his respect for Hart, the legend's remarks were the one thing that hurt his feelings more than anything during his time away:
"I have all the respect in the world for this guy," Rollins told Jericho. "But this one hurt my feelings more than anything....Bret Hart had some comments about me and how safe I am in the ring because of the John Cena nose (break), and then me getting hurt while I was the champion. He said you couldn't do that because people relied on you.
"I know he comes from a different era...but man, that sucked. I would love to have the discussion with him to be like, 'hey, what did you mean by that? Is there something I can learn from this experience?'"
Hart's comments were a little surprising considering Rollins' injury came about during a fairly routine move on Kane - a sunset flip - in which he actually took extra precaution because of his opponent's size:
"For me...it was a very simple, routine (move). Not dangerous, I've done it literally a million times," continued Rollins.
"He (Bret Hart) was the only one that made me think, 'Oh man, do I need to reevaluate my situation here?"
