What do you do that you find unique to you or find popping up time and time again in your shyt?

for me I would have to say I love putting some reverb on the snares. shyt carries some of my tracks.

add on brothers :demonic:

On my last tape I was attempting to put trap-like 808's at an old school tempo. I've always been a sampler though I've done less recently.
When I find more shyt I'll come back :ohhh:

EDIT: I like reversing the sample on the hook. shyt be chaotic, painful, and beautiful to me :birdman:

All I do is sample. I'm afraid of the growing pains I'll have when I try to just compose a song :sadcam:

Dark.

Even when I'm not trying to make a "dark" beat....I always get comments saying my music is dark. So I have decided to accept that as part of my identity.

I also like to use a Delay and/or Reverb effect on almost everything. drums and samples.

a lot of drum percussion tends to find it's way into most of my shyt. a couple closed hi-hats, an open hat, maybe a hi-passed break (maybe even two), a crash, a couple bigger panned cymbals. there's usually a lot going on there...i guess i like to envision a really busy drummer when i'm putting that stuff together lol.

i can't seem to help myself when it comes to that shyt :yeshrug:

My favorite music is early 90s NY hip hop, so I try to make that.

filtered bass, snares that sound like baseball bats cracking, drum breaks, layering of multiple different samples, etc. I also try to filter all my stuff down to really give it that "sound" you get with stuff like the SP1200 by emulating how it handles samples (e.g the pitch manipulation, bitrate compression, etc).

My largest influences in terms of how I structure my beats are probably Q-Tip and J-Swift.

Beats like this are :blessed: :blessed: :blessed: for me with drums slapping all over the place

Theres a certain analog drumkit that comes with Maschine and I cant seem to make ONE beat without using at least ONE sound from it....even if its changed to the point of being unrecognizable :heh:
