Wearing Lions gear when it wasn't cool
Quite honestly, I know that I've had it easy with management. I lead by example and everyone else just follows my lead. Last week and this week, two different situations.
Last week, one of my accountants and accounts payable staff were beefing with each other. It all stems from the fact that I didn't promote this accountant to another position and she was lashing out and this other person specifically. I don't have time for petty shyt. We are in audit season now and they really don't want to fukk around and find out how I could be if we aren't hitting deadlines. So, we have the meeting with the head of HR, both people crying (women fyi) and it's all over trivial shyt. During the meeting, showing part of the reason why I wouldn't promote her. That was the easy fix.
This week, I have someone being accused of time theft. We have a pretty generous work from home policy. One day in the office, rest at home. I don't care how you break up your 8 hours through a week. Anyways, said person's performance hasn't been right in a while. Long story short, looking at the metrics, the employee's numbers are at about 60% of everyone elses numbers over the last three months. Additionally, she sent a text to someone saying that they are taking their mom to the doctor, while punched into the clock as this person is hourly. I didn't even do the accusing, it was someone else under me and she told HR before I got a chance to do anything about it. At that point in time, the ball was rolling. What I could do is say that I'm not firing her nor am I suspending her, I'll write her up and also tell her that she has to come in everyday since she abused the WFH policy. Honestly, I expect her to quit when she hear's this but my hands are tied. She's caught dead to rights on the time stuff. What makes this worse to me is that this is a brehette that is doing this. I can only save you so much. I'm not even mad, I'm just disappointed here.
Just curious here about other stories.
