Yep.:francis:

Injured my lower back badly (hard to stand up, walk, etc.) a couple times dead-lifting. Had to stop dead-lifting or working out completely for a while after each time it happened. I usually give it a week or two so my back can heal properly. It sucks because it really does cripple your progress.

I tore some ligaments in my lower back a couple years ago going for a 500lb PR. Didn't give myself enough warm up sets on the way up smh. I was out of the gym for months and after that, I was doing DL again but only really light weight. No more than 275lbs max. I started pushing it again recently though. Hit 405 for one rep a couple weeks ago and I started doing 5x5s at 315lbs last week. The most important thing is to give yourself time to fully recover. Don't try to rush back and hurt yourself even worse.

How long did it take until you were pain free?

You need to be doing some kind of yoga/stretching to come back from that. There's a problem somewhere in your posterior chain and the back strain is a manifestation of that deficiency.

Make sure you're doing balance drills and single leg work.

I had back spasms multiple times and it was caused by faulty neurological recruitment patterns in how I did a lot of movements. Improving my balance and overall posture fixed it.

Bingo

I have the same thing

My posture is awful and when it comes to deadlifts or squats, one wrong move puts me out

I pulled muscles in my oblique.

I don't deadlift or squat heavy after that, I take it light.
