Brehs,I forgot why NBA teams don't face every team in their conference 4x/yr anymore?

I can't remember why teams don't play every team in their conference 4 times a year anymore..

I know for the past few years some teams in the same conference only play 3 times..

Anybody remember?

I could be wrong, but I thought it was when they added the Bobcats as an expansion team. I figured it just messed up the numbers a bit, and they couldnt play every team 4 times anymore

yea they went from 4 to 6 divisions

There used to be four divisions, now there are six. And there used to be twenty-nine teams, now there is thirty. I'm not sure which, but it had to be one of these reasons.

2 MORE against each of the 14 conference opponents is 28 games.

That's 86 games.

When the league expanded, they adjusted the schedule so it could still be 82 games.
It also happened in the 90s when the Raptors and Grizz joined.
I remember one year Orlando and Chicago played 4 times a year and then the next year in 96-97 they only played 3 times.
