Brehs, does Bray Wyatt's theme straight up jack Bobby Byrd's "I Know You Got Soul"?

I was in the department store today and over the crowd noise I heard a melody that resembled Bray Wyatt's theme song. shyt had me standing in the middle of the floor like :why: so I started walking closer to the speakers because no way in hell are they playing WWE theme songs in this place, and I hit the :mindblown: when I got there and realized the actual song playing was I Know You Got Soul.

Listen to the opening chords that play throughout the song, they straight up Vanilla Ice'd that shyt to make Bray's theme, only added a couple of notes at the end to differentiate.

The closest comparison is the part around 2:00 in Bray's theme, tell me I ain't the only one who hears it, brehs! :dwillhuh:

:lupe:Eh...wrestling themes are pretty much beats of original songs. Hell Roundhouse was just Jimi Hendrix riffs from one of his songs. I seriously think that the only original song out there is "Real American".

Def not a rip off or sample, but you could certainly lay Bray's bassline over it and it would match perfectly and prob sound pretty good.

If that's the case, how is it not a rip-off then? That shyt doesn't happen by coincidence, it might not be a straight up rip-off but they definitely blurred lines on this track.

Similar progression and tempo. There's a million songs you could lay tracks from one on top of another and they fit, that doesn't mean it's a rip off. It means there are only so many progressions and tempos and keys that things line up sometimes. Take 50 rock songs from any era and probably half of them will line up at some point. :yeshrug:

You can play the melody in your head and it fits, but the melody isn't part of the original song.

EDIT:

You can lay the bass of Bray's song and it fits, but you have to change the speed and key, and it only works for the first bar.

two songs using the same chords / key is a lot more common than you think. the amount popular songs you can do this with throughout history is pretty enormous.
