Okay I am switching up my routine, for one, I need a more challenging workout. Second reason is, I feel more built and pumped up when I work my entire upper body/lower body. That post gym pump always feels better when the entire half of your body is popping as opposed to just your back/biceps or tris/back...

Why not just use Layne Norton's PHAT upper/lower as the template?

Day 1: Upper Body Power Day
Pulling Power Movement: Bent over or Pendlay rows
3 sets of 3-5 reps
Assistance Pulling movement: Weighted Pull ups
2 sets of 6-10 reps
Auxiliary Pulling movement: Rack chins
2 sets of 6-10 reps
Pressing Power Movement: Flat dumbbell presses
3 sets of 3-5 reps
Assistance pressing movement: Weighted dips
2 sets of 6-10 reps
Assistance pressing movement: Seated dumbbell shoulder presses
3 sets of 6-10 reps
Auxiliary curling movement: Cambered bar curls
3 sets of 6-10 reps
Auxiliary extension movement: Skull crushers
3 sets of 6-10 reps




Day 2: Lower Body Power Day
Pressing Power Movement: Squats
3 sets of 3-5 reps
Assistance pressing movement: Hack Squats

Assistance pulling movement: Stiff legged deadlifts

Not using Layne Norton's phat because I like to create my own workouts :manny:

For example on my leg days, if I don't do front squats, I have a lot of variations of circuits leg workouts that I do...

His workouts just aren't "exciting" to me... Whereas I know if I do something like

Barbell jump squat with 135lbs 15 reps and then immediately move into 20 lunges while holding 45 pound dumbbels and then into bulgarian squats, Box jumps with a 45lb weight vest etc. with no breaks I will challenge myself more and it gets my metabolism moving as well as improves my athleticism...

That Layne Norton PHAT stuff is good for bodybuilding I guess, but I am more about improving myself athletically along with the muscle endurance and strength

You can modify phat breh as long as the concepts are the same..hypertrophy and power. Layne does hiit all the time

Looks good brah. I use the westside 4 skinny b*stards upper/lower template with some changes, probably the most fun in the gym I've had in a long time.

I have been on a similar routine for about a month now, but w/more volume. 3 push, 3 pull, 2 shoulder exercises 3 days a week, 1 leg day. 1 of the 3 days I do hyper compounds, 1 day I do accessory work, 1 day I do power compounds. Leg day is all hyper compounds and accessories, pretty much. That full body pump :smugfavre: I think this one's a keeper.

Looks more like an "upper / lower + upper" workout.

But this is similar to lyle's generic bulk routine and how I bulked last year.
