Trump started a very ugly trend where they use a very thinly veiled racist rhetoric to get (white) folks upset. Folks turned that rhetoric into a damn religion. There will be people more evil than Trump on the horizon. Ones that are more crafty, intelligent, and conniving. They'll say the quiet parts quietly or not at all.
