Everyone defending Jimmy in here, would you pay Jimmy Butler what he’s asking for at age 36?
People love to throw away 100ms like it’s nickels on the coli :mjlol:

Dudes be like, he had a good playoff performance 4 years ago, so they should donate insane money to this ultra wealthy man

Whether Miami thinks he's worth the contract extension means nothing in the grand scheme of things if there's another team out there willing to give it to him.

If you don't want to do it, then quit bullshytting around and send him elsewhere. I totally get it from Jimmy's perspective as you're literally fukking with his bread.

I get both sides. What you say is true but from Miamis side, he is a player under contract until that contract is up.

NBA players, unlike people in the real world, tend to think that contracts are strictly valid at their own discretion and not between both parties.

Which has never stopped teams before from trading players or fukking them over after they re-signed regardless of how they felt about it. The Blake Griffin situation is the perfect example of that.

Like I mentioned before, what did Riley expect to happen after shytting on Jimmy publicly at the end of last season to only trot him out there with no extension yet still expect all to be well?

Riley and Miami aren't the victims in this situation.

It's his problem for wanting one team, we don't want to pay him or Beal

nikkas love to play selectively dumb when there's a situation where their animosity for a player outweighs their capacity to be rational.

There's nothing new about players and agents leveraging their value to be fairly compensated. Imagine pretending you can't comprehend that many players - especially the best player on a team - aren't the same as grunts in a cubicle at a giant corporation. When a player significantly increases your team's market valuation and brings you playoff revenue from leading deep postseason runs, yeah, he's underpaid. Steph Curry has made $360 million dollars from the Warriors over the course of his career. He has still been underpaid. It's not the number, it's the percentage. Same with LeBron. And, as much as some of you hate Jimmy Butler, he singlehandedly revived the Heat and increased their valuation too.

the best players gets special treatment all the time. Nothing new there at all. All that bullshyt talk about Heat Culture but what really got them championships was teaming their star with two other stars. That's not culture, that's capitalism. Before that it was acquiring one of the best centers to ever play. Heat culture is a bunch of bullshyt, some corporate nonsense that'll have you working twice as hard and expecting no fringe benefits because "we're a family." Family until they decide they don't want to treat you that way. Underpaid Wade; stopped speaking to Bron after he brought them multiple titles; called the cops on Shaq. Not only did they not get Jimmy more help to take the team over the top, they told him to STFU. Then something else happened disrespectful behind the scenes in December which I hopes comes out. They don't believe in culture and family, GTFOH. We're supposed to believe in some morally upright culture because they gave Zo a job and made Udonis Haslem a glorified mascot?

You know who else makes outlandish demands?

This is a rat ass power-hungry a$$hole who faxed his resignation from the team and fanbase who embraced him - so much for honor and culture and family. And I don't hold it against him. It's a big money business and you have to use your leverage whenever you have it, and you definitely shouldn't suffer disrespect when you've earned better. He doesn't have any qualms about disrespecting any Heat player, regardless of how much esteem, popularity, and financial value they bring to his team. That's not family, honor, or culture - that's some massa shyt. fukk him and anyone who loves him.

Leaving the largest contract ever offered to a basketball coach sitting on the table, Pat Riley resigned unexpectedly as coach of the New York Knicks on Thursday.

He made the announcement in a prepared statement, released through a public relations firm. He informed the Knicks with a fax, apparently catching them by surprise.

Contacted by the Associated Press for a comment, a Knick spokesman refused to confirm or deny the report, saying, “If and when we have anything to say, we’ll say it.”

The Knicks then hastily called a news conference at which team President Dave Checketts, the man who hired Riley and a steadfast ally for their four years together, rebutted everything Riley had said.

Riley, 50, who had been offered a five-year, $15-million extension, said in his release he needed control of personnel matters.

At the news conference, Checketts noted that Riley had asked for a share of ownership too.

“If anything, he was resentful I couldn’t deliver to him ownership and everything he was seeking,” Checketts said. “We delivered an offer to him that we thought was extraordinary.”

Newsday reported that Riley at one point asked for $50 million over five years, plus 25% ownership of the team, and the Knicks countered with a five-year, $25-million offer.

Exactly. Theres no market for Jimmy and the only team that wants to pay him already traded for a worst contract player with a ntc. So anybody defending jimbo’s actions need to be dm’in Beal telling him why wont he just give jimmy what he wants :russ:

Beal is the real obstacle in all this and it feels like the heat are building up enough dirt to justify sending jimmy to toronto or memphis for expirings if phoenix cant figure it out

Both sides are being unprofessional. I'm sure Pat is working on a trade behind the scenes but Jimmy has an unfortunate history of burning bridges on his way out, and teams are not willing to trade so much capital for him at his age

This whole post neglects the fact that both parties, Heat and Jimmy, should do what’s best for them. Stans seem to think that both parties should do what’s best for Jimmy
