Where's this money coming from. How Detroit gave $8 Million?!!?
One of the gems we found digging through the recent dump of Democratic National Committee documents leaked by Wikileaks was enlightening as much as it was disturbing.
We pulled the top metro areas from a DNC spreadsheet of which regions contributed the most political cash to President Obama’s 2008 historic campaign. What we found was a surprising and ironic list of cities that historically have been hotbeds of crime and poverty, EVEN before Obama’s eight years in office. And now, looking back to 2008, none of these metropolitan areas are in better shape than they were under President George W. Bush, especially after having voted for an African-American president in both 2008 and 2012.
In many of these economically-starved large metropolitan areas, the question beckons: Where is all this money coming from? Bundling manipulation comes to mind as a possibility, easily cloaked in larger cities. And perhaps an even more pressing question is: Why didn’t these sectors see a return on their collective investments?
What Did All That Money Buy?
Even Argentina’s Evita Peron could have never imagined ginning up this amount of cash from the poor.
